So God Made a Farm Kid (Fall Harvest Edition)

God looked out at the dried, lifeless fields on that 8th day and He thought, I need someone who will ride buddy seat the combine and sneak all the jelly beans.

So God made a farm kid.

He said, I need someone to take snacks to the field and hang out in the combine tire while repairs are being made.

So God made a farm kid.

He said, I need someone who can entertain the farmers when the hours are long and the bushels are few.

So God made a farm kid.

He said, I need someone who can cut corn on the living room floor and give the best snuggles when the harvest day is over.

So God made a farm kid.

He said, I need someone whose laugh can melt the heart of the exhausted farm wife, who’s been scrambling around — making meals, moving equipment and filling in the gaps.

So God made a farm kid.

He said, I need someone who can take over this legacy, when farmers become withered and tired; someone who can love this life with all their heart; someone who can carry on the values of the farming way of life.

God looked out in the bountiful crops about to be picked, and He knew that even though the growing season was coming to a close, a new one was just beginning in the heart of a farm kid 🤍

Words inspired by Paul Harvey’s “So God Made a Farmer.”
